Turn 1 mana dorks are super powerful but held in check by the fact that they get worse and worse as the game goes along (drawing a Elvish Mystic off the top during the mid- to late game is usually horrible)

Mana is often the most boring aspect of the deck, so people cut too much of it out during the brewing process to jam as many fun cards as possible
